VALDOSTA, Ga.— The Shorter Softball team travelled to Valdosta State University for a Gulf South Conference with a single game on Saturday. #3 Valdosta came out on top with a final score of 9-1.
 
The Lady Hawks fall to 4-20 while the Lady Blazers improve to 17-4.
Valdosta State started off hot with a two-run homer in the first, 2-0. The Lady Blazers plated three more runs in the bottom of the fourth.
In the top of the sixth, Taylor Phillips singled to shortstop to advance Hannah Morales to third but an error by the first baseman caused Morales to score and plate the first run for the Lady Hawks. Valdosta went on a scoring frenzy in the bottom of the sixth to score four runs on three hits with two of those being home runs.
The Lady Hawks recorded a total of three hits on the day. Alexis Sewell, Kaylee Combs, and Phillips each had one hit.
 
Shorter will look to gain redemption on Sunday with a double header against Valdosta with first pitch slated for 12p.m.
