MT. BERRY, Ga.-- The Shorter Women's Lacrosse team traveled 10 minutes down the road to local rival Berry College for a midweek game. Berry came out on top with a 14-10 win.
Shorter falls to 0-2 while Berry gains their first win of the season (1-0).Â
With just 45 seconds off the clock, Berry's Alexa Medor scored the first goal of the game which gave Berry the lead for the entire game.
Olivia Contento, scored the first goal for the Hawks in the first quarter with nine and a half minutes left. Just before the end of the first,
Olivia Masters scored a goal to make the score 4-2.Â
The Lady Hawks were unable to hold the Lady Vikings from scoring in the second quarter with five goals. While the Hawks tallied in four goals with two from Maria Hensen and one from
Olivia Masters and
Olivia Contento.Â
After the half, the Vikings added in three goals in the third. Masters scored her second goal of the game with seven minutes left in the third.Â
Maria Hansen started out the fourth with a goal, 12-8. The Vikiings tallied in two more goals to improve their lead 14-8. With two minutes left in the game,
Cat Bloedow scored a goal followed by Hansen.
As a team, Shorter had a total of eight caused turnovers and 12 draw controls.
Makala McKinney lead the team in groundballs with five. Hansen recorded a total of four goals, followed by
Olivia Masters who tallied in three goals.
The Lady Hawks will head to Franklin Springs, Ga. on Saturday for a matchup against Emmanuel College with opening draw scheduled for 12p.m.
