Shorter Football Welcome #Mi22ionDriven Class

ROME, Ga. – Head coach Zach Morrison and his staff welcomed in the newest generation of Hawks on Wednesday morning.
 

"I'm really excited about the group of guys we are signing today…" said Morrison. "After graduating 27 seniors this past year, we've addressed some depth issues and brought in some guys that can make immediate impact on the team."

Morrison credits his staff for their relentless effort during the recruiting process. Saying "The staff has worked extremely hard over the last several months to add size, speed and ability to all positions. These recruits fit the culture of the program and the mission of the school and I look forward to getting them on campus."

The #Mi22ionDriven Class brings in kids from Georgia, Florida, and Alabama, with a bulk of the kids coming from the Peach State.

Cole McCranie from Metter High School will join the already impressive tight end room and look to make an instant impact. Standing at 6'3" and 240 lbs. Cole is ready to make his case in the TE room after being both 1st team All-Region and All-GAC.

Joshua Brown, a 6'0 and 190 pound quarterback, makes his way to Rome from Camden county. While in high school, Josh was named to the All-Big Bend Team, and the 1st Team Region 7A QB.

Tevin Gartrell, a slot receiver from Lincoln County joins the wide receiver group. After three-straight 1,000-yard seasons for Lincoln County, Tevin brings a new level of speed to the receiver room after running a 10.5 in the 100 meter dash.

Deidric Gibson will not go far from home, as he makes his way to The Hill from Rockmart. While at Rockmart, the 5'9 and 170 pound defensive back was named to the all-region team three times. Gibson also was named pre-season all-state, all-state honorable mention, and racked up an all-area nod as well.

Persean Taylor is another addition to the defensive back room. Taylor comes to Shorter from Thomas County Central, and sits on an impressive frame and resume. Sitting at 6'1 and 185 pounds, Taylor was named to the 2020 Honorable Mention All-Region 1AAAA team on defense. In 2021, Taylor was selected to All-Region 2nd team in 1AAAA on offense. Taylor was also selected to participate in the 2021 GACA game, and the Georgia Elite Classic game.

Artellious Edmond, a 6'1 and 180 pound DB from Chattahoochee County High School joins the Hawks after a impressive senior campaign where he was named Most Versatile Player.

Logan Crossfield makes his way to Shorter after spending some time at the Palmetto Prep Academy. While there, the 6'2 and 190 pound defensive back earned an all-conference nod.

T'ijae Wynn, a 6'2 and 260 pound Turner County native, joins the gritty Shorter Hawk defensive line. While in high school, Wynn was named first team all-region as a defensive lineman.

Justus Durant joins the running back room from Bayside High in Florida. Standing at 5'9 and 170 pounds, Durant adds serious speed to the Hawks' backfield as he set the school record for 400-meter dash.

Christian Cotton out of Harris County joins the big men up front on the offensive line. Cotton sits at a staggering 6'4 and 300 pounds.

Marcus Jones adds to the power on the line of scrimmage with his 6'5 and 250 pound build. Jones comes to Rome from West Morgan High School in Alabama where he was a team captain.

Alan Herron rounds out the offensive line signees for the Hawks, making his way to The Hill from Banneker High in Atlanta. Herron checks in at a whopping 6'5 and 270 pounds.

JaQueraius Thomas crosses state lines as he makes his way from Carver-Montgomery Senior High in Alabama. The 5'10 and 165 pound defensive back's presence boosts an already solid defensive recruiting class.

Chris Williams also joins the star-studded defensive back room. Making his way from Union Grove, Williams tallied an all-region selection twice in two years. Standing at 5'11 and 165 pounds, Williams boosts the talent pool in the defensive back room.

Trevon Dirden makes his way north from St. Augustine, Florida. Dirden, an all-conference honorable mention, adds some serious length to the wide receiver room with his 6'1 build.

Amari White, a Cartersville native, makes the trek to Rome to continue his success in the back field. In his senior year, White was named the offensive player of the year for his region. The speedy 5'7 and 177 pound back looks to add serious value to the Hawks' running back stable.

Dwight Levy Jr. adds some versatility to the Hawks' offense as a slot receiver. Standing at 5'5 and 170 pounds, Levy comes from Jackson County High School where he played in the Georgia-Florida All-Star Game.

Brandon McGill, a slot receiver from Monroe High, adds more talent to the receiver room. Three all-region selections headline McGill's high school accolades, and he tops it off with an All-Purpose Player Of The Year selection. McGill stands at 5'11 and 165 pounds.

Jaylin Marshall is another wide receiver from Harris County who adds length and speed to the group with a solid 6 foot build, and weighs in at 160 pounds. While at Harris County, Marshall was a 4x1 state champion.

Coach Morrison inked a handful more quality men who Believe In The Mission from across the tri-state area.

Nasir Grandberry, a 4 year letterman DE from Cartersville and a force inside will wreak havoc for the Hawks on the defensive line.

Denzel Alexandre-Louis, a first team all-conference OL from North Cobb Christian. Denzel brings the size and strength to the Hawks offensive line standing at 6'6" 320.

Trey Long, a 4.5 star kicker and punter from Villa Rica. Trey will bring the competition level up in the specialists room.

Clayton Floyd, a region champion and honor graduate OL from Rockmart. Clayton anchored the offensive line this past season.

Cody Earle, a MLB from Central Christian. Cody led Central Christian in tackles this past season and was recognized as an NUC and OD All-American.

Caleb Peden, an all-area DE from Murray County. Caleb plays with great effort and looks forward to terrorizing offensive linemen the GSC.

Taylor Carrell, an all-area player from Murray County. Taylor has excellent ability and looks to contribute on the defensive side of the ball.

Javian Parks, an all-region and all-state strong safety from Callaway. Javian brings a winning mentality and is a leader on the team and in the classroom.

Kobe Butts, an all-region LB from Mount de Sales Academy. Kobe brings excellent effort and attitude to the defense.

Josiah Johnson, a DE from Trinity Christian. Josiah is one of the strongest defenders brought in this class and looks to bring the winning mentality from Trinity Christian.

Isaiah Blake, an honor roll DT from North Cobb. Isaiah has only played football for one season but made an impact on an impressive North Cobb football team.

Jaylon Johnson, an all-region WR from Chattooga. Jaylon adds a deep threat to the receiving room and high points the ball well.

Malachi Kelley, a four time all-region and two-time all- state WR from Hart County. Malachi joins the receiver room looking to add an immediate impact.

Demarieo Sims, an all-state DE from Cedartown who was named defensive player of the year for his region. Demarieo can play multiple positions on defense and attacks the ball with a force.
