ALBERTVILLE, Ala.- On the final day of the Charger Chillout, the Hawks fell to the Greyhounds from the University of Indianapolis, 14-2 and the Screaming Eagles from the University of Southern Indiana, 10-2. The Hawks finish the tournament with a 1-4 record, 2-6 overall.
Game 1
The Greyhounds jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first off of a triple and a sacrifice fly. Shorter got one run back in the third inning after
Paytn Cripps tripled to left center and then scored off of an error on
Payton Tuder's hit. In the fourth inning,
Alexis Sewell hit a triple down the right field line and then scored on a
Paytn Cripps double, which tied the game at 2. The Greyhounds offense exploded in the fifth inning, scoring six runs and extending their lead to 8-2. In the seventh inning, the Greyhounds scored another six runs, and the Hawks were unable to come back from a 14-2 deficit.
Paytn Cripps went 2-3 with and RBI and scored a run.
Alexis Sewell and
Angela Cecere also recorded a hit.
Payton Tuder recorded an RBI in this game.

Izzy Kinard all drew a walk.
Game 2
The Screaming Eagles offense came out swinging in the first inning, scoring three runs off of four hits and taking a 3-0 lead. Southern Indiana tacked on two more runs in the second inning to extend their lead to 5-0.
Payton Tuder doubled to left center in the third inning, then advanced to third on a fielding error by the third baseman on
Hannah Morales' hit. Then,
Hannah Morales stole second which allowed
Payton Tuder to score, making it a four-run lead for the Screaming Eagles. The Screaming Eagles scored a run of their own in the third which put their lead back to five runs. The Hawks started the fourth inning with two singles by
Lexie Wright and
Carlee Graham.
Asia McWaters reached on a fielder's choice when
Lexie Wright was tagged out at third base. Then
Taylor Phillips reached on a throwing error by the pitcher which allowed her to advance to second base and score
Carlee Graham, now the lead is back down to four. However, it did not stay that way with Southern Indiana adding another run in the fourth inning and scoring three more in the fifth to win the game 10-2.
Lexie Wright went 2-3 from the plate.
Taylor Phillips recorded the only RBI in this game.
Angela Cecere,
Carlee Graham, and
Payton Tuder each recorded one hit.
The Lady Hawks open conference play at home next weekend against Delta State with a doubleheader on Saturday February 19
th. First pitch is slated for 1 PM.
