ALBERTVILLE, Ala.— On day two of the Charger Chillout, the Hawks fell to Carson Newman 17-6 and Miles College 10-8.
Shorter ends the day with a overall record of 2-4.
Game 1 vs. Carson Newman
Carson Newman came out with the bats rolling in the first inning with four hits and three runs.
The Eagles continued with their hitting streak to score 9 more runs in the second and third innings, 13-0.
In the top of the 3
rd, Angela hit an in the park homerun with an error from left field. Then
Kaylee Combs hit a double down the left field line to score
Alexis Sewell and
Colbi Ballard. Then
Taylor Phillips hit a single to left field, which scored
Kaylee Combs.
Payton Tuder singled to center field and
Carlee Graham scored. Then
Angela Cecere hit a single to score
Taylor Phillips. The Eagles still had the lead, 13-6. In the 6
th, Carson Newman's Natalie Corbin hit a grand slam to take the score, 17-6.
Cecere went 2-3 with two RBI's, Combs went 2-4 with two RBI's.
Game 2 vs. Miles College
Miles started the game using their speed to get on the bases and move around. With a total of two runs in the top of the first.
In the bottom of the second,
Asia McWaters doubled to left center to score
Alexis Sewell and
Lexie Wright.
Carlee Graham singled to left field and scored
Angela Cecere and
Paytn Cripps. Wright sacrifice flied out to center field that scored Combs.
Miles scored two runs in the fifth, but Shorter kept the lead, 6-4.
In the top of the 7
th Miles turned the bats on to take the lead from Shorter with a total of six runs on four hits, 10-8.
In the bottom of the 7
th, Paytyn Cripps lead off with a single followed but the Lady Hawks bats were unable to get a rally started.
Cripps tallied in three hits in four at bats with one rbi. Then
Carlee Graham went 2-3 with 2 rbi's.
The Lady Hawks will finish out the Charger Chillout on Sunday with gametimes slated for 12p.m and 2p.m.
