ALBERTVILLE, Ala.—The Shorter Softball team travelled to Alabama for the Charger Chillout tournament hosted by University of Alabama in Huntsville. On Friday, the Hawks won 3-2 over Spring Hill College.
Shorter improves to 2-2 on the season while Spring Hill falls to 2-4.
The Hawks and Badgers went scoreless through two innings. In the bottom of the third, Shorter started it off with a RBI single from
Alexis Sewell that scored
Angela Cecere. Then
Kaylee George singled to right center to score Sewell.
In the bottom of the fifth,
Taylor Phillips singled to right field to score
Carlee Graham.
In the top of the seventh the Badgers scored their first run when Lindsey Mecom walked to score Airyonna Weaver. Followed by a sacrifice fly from Macy Holt to score Randa Day.
Kaylee Combs lead the Hawks by going 2-3 with a double. On the mound,
Emily Brunson took the win with 6.1 innings of work allowing only two hits.
The Hawks will play Carson-Newman at 11:30am on Saturday and then Miles College at 4:30pm.
