Solid Offense and Pitching Help Hawks Shut Out Golden Rams

ROME, Ga. – The Shorter Hawks shut out the Albany State University Golden Rams 14-0 in seven innings this afternoon at the Robert H. Ledbetter Baseball Complex. Both a solid afternoon at the plate and solid pitching were key in today's victory for the Hawks.

Shorter took control of the game early, and the Hawks plated nine runs in the home half of the first. Norman Leon scored the first run after Tyler McWillie walked with the bases loaded. Justin Barnes then reached first on an error by the Albany State shortstop, and this scored Jacob Pajer.

Cameron Tilly and McWillie scored the next two runs after two more bases loaded walks. Immediately after the two bases loaded walks, Leon doubled down the left field line, and this scored Kody Krause, Jakob Woods and Barnes. Pajer then hit a two-run home run to left to plate the inning's final two runs.

The Hawks plated three additional runs in the bottom of the fifth. Pajer had an infield single to the shortstop, and this scored Krause and Woods. Leon scored the final run of the inning after Tilly walked with the bases loaded.
