ROME, Ga. – The Shorter Hawks (0-1) fell 5-3 to the Emmanuel College Lions (1-0) in the 2022 season opener on Tuesday afternoon at the Robert H. Ledbetter Baseball Complex.
Shorter plated the game's first run in the home half of the fourth after
Justin Barnes reached first on an error, scoring
Peter Wittman.
Emmanuel then quickly took the lead in the fifth after scoring three runs.
The Hawks answered back and tied the game after
Jacob Pajer hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth.
The Lions plated the final two runs of the game in the top of the sixth.
Pajer went 1-for-3 with a run scored, two RBI and a walk.
Norman Leon went 1-for-4 with a run scored, and Barnes went 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Jonathan Pintaro started for the Hawks in this afternoon's game and was solid over 4.1 innings. He gave up two runs on two hits and struck out nine.
Carson Cook pitched three innings in relief and took the loss.

Shorter returns to action on Friday to begin a weekend series with the Miles College Golden Bears. First pitch for Friday's game will be at 1 p.m. at the Ledbetter Baseball Complex. The Hawks will then face the Golden Bears in a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch for Saturday's doubleheader will be at noon.
