CLEVELAND, Miss.- The Lady Hawks began a four-game road trip in Cleveland, Mississippi for a matchup with the Lady Statesmen of Delta State. Shorter went into halftime with a four-point deficit, but after being outscored in the third quarter by ten points they were unable to make a comeback despite scoring 29 points in the fourth quarter.
Kelly Pickett and
Jasmine Gaines led the team in points with 19 and 17 respectively.
Alana Moore led the team with 10 rebounds followed by
Azaria Howard who pulled down five rebounds.
Ansley Barge scored 13 points, recorded five rebounds, and was shot 50% from 3-pt range. The Lady Hawks had nine fast break points and 23 points off turnovers. Shorter led Delta State in free throw percentage (64.7% - 57.7%).
The Lady Hawks will continue their road trip in Clinton, Mississippi as they face the Lady Choctaws of Mississippi College on Saturday, January 22
nd at 3 PM EST.
