Statesmen Outscore Hawks

CLEVELAND, Miss.-- The Shorter Hawks Men's basketball team traveled to Delta State for a Gulf South Conference matchup on Thursday night. The Statesmen outscored the Hawks 97-56. 

With the loss Shorter falls to 3-11 and 0-9 GSC while Delta State improves to 7-10 and 6-5 GSC. 

Delta State held the lead for all 40 minutes of play. At the half the Hawks were down 11 points, 35-24. 

Unfortunately for the Hawks, the Statesmen came out on scoring frenzy with a totalt of 62 points scored in the second half. 

Scoring leaders for Shorter include Kendale Chambers with 13 points, two rebounds, and one steal. Jaden Dunham and Chris Brown each added in 10 points. 

Leading scorer for the Statemen was Maalik Cartwright with recorded a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds along with four blocks and one steal.

Shorter will head to Clinton, Mississippi on Saturday for a conference matchup against Mississippi College with tipoff set for 5pm EST.
