ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Shorter volleyball team played four matches in the Flagler Tournament over the weekend at Flagler College. The Lady Hawks faced Flagler and West Virginia Wesleyan College on Friday. The Lady Hawks lost 3-0 to Flagler and then defeated West Virginia Wesleyan 3-0. Shorter faced Lindenwood University and Embry-Riddle University on Saturday. The Lady Hawks fell to both Lindenwood and Embry-Riddle 3-1.
After this weekend, Shorter is now 4-4 on the season.
Shorter vs. Flagler (Flagler wins, 3-0)
The Lady Hawks fell 25-14 in the first set, 25-15 in the second set and 25-9 in the third set against Flagler.
Lacee Glover led the way for the Lady Hawks offensively in the first match and had eight kills.
Annie Smith had eight assists for Shorter. Glover added in six digs.
As a team, the Lady Hawks had 20 kills, two aces, one block, 19 assists and 33 digs.
Flagler overall had 37 kills, seven aces, eight blocks, 32 assists and 44 digs.
Shorter vs. West Virginia Wesleyan (Shorter wins, 3-0)
Shorter defeated West Virginia Wesleyan 25-17 in the first set, 25-21 in the second set and 25-19 in the third set.
Glover again led the way for Shorter offensively in this match with eight kills. Smith had 14 assists while Glover and
Madison Sprosty both added in seven digs.
The Lady Hawks overall had 34 kills, seven aces, two blocks, 30 assists and 31 digs against West Virginia Wesleyan.
As a team, West Virginia Wesleyan had 30 kills, two aces, six blocks, 28 assists and 31 digs.
Shorter vs. Lindenwood (Lindenwood wins, 3-1)
Shorter defeated Lindenwood 25-15 in the first set, but Lindenwood defeated the Lady Hawks 25-17 in the second set, 25-13 in the third set and 25-15 in the fourth set.
Glover had seven kills in the match against Lindenwood. Smith had 13 assists while Sprosty added in 15 digs.
As a team, Shorter had 33 kills, five aces, seven blocks, 28 assists and 50 digs in this match.
Lindenwood had 52 kills, eight aces, seven blocks, 48 assists and 63 digs.
Shorter vs. Embry-Riddle (Embry-Riddle wins, 3-1)
Embry-Riddle defeated Shorter 25-23 in the first set. The Lady Hawks defeated Embry-Riddle 25-18 in the second set, but Embry-Riddle bounced back and defeated Shorter 25-18 in the third set and 25-14 in the fourth set.
Glover had 17 kills while Smith had 15 assists. Smith added in 14 digs while Sprosty added in 13.
Shorter as a team had 44 kills, four aces, six blocks, 42 assists and 55 digs.
As a team, Embry-Riddle had 56 kills, six aces, nine blocks, 49 assists and 54 digs.

The Lady Hawks return to action on Friday, September 17 against the University of Alabama Huntsville at the Lee Invitational at Lee University. The match is slated to start at noon.
Shorter's first home match of the season will be on Wednesday, September 22 against Augusta University. The match is slated to start at 6 p.m. in the Winthrop-King Centre.
