Hawks end record season with loss to Chargers

PENSACOLA, Fla.—The Hawks were back in action in Pensacola for an elimination matchup with the Chargers from Alabama Huntsville. Both teams lost their first round matchups and were looking for redemption heading into this game. The Hawks were unable to surpass the Chargers in the elimination game of the NCAA regional tournament with a final score of 7-2. This was the sixth matchup this season for the Hawks and Chargers.
 
With a record year for the Hawks they end their season at 27-17 while the Chargers will continue to move on in the tournament with a 23-19 record.
 
The Chargers busted open the game in the top of the third by scoring five runs on six hits. In the bottom of the third, Matt Christian bunted to get on base and record the first hit for the Hawks, but was unable to score. Then in the bottom of the fourth, Kaleeq Braningan singled to right field to score Justin Barnes, which gave the Hawks their first run of the game, 5-1. In the top of the sixth and seventh innings the Chargers scored one run off of singles which extended their lead to 7-1. In the bottom of the seventh, Nathaniel Butterworth hit a solo homerun to left center, 7-2.
