Rome, Ga- The Lady Hawks were back at home for a weekend series matchup against the Lady Buccaneers of Christian Brothers University. The Lady Bucs won both games by a score of 10-0 and 11-3.
Game 1
The Lady Bucs started their 10 to nothing scoring run in the top of the second when they jumped out to an early three to nothing lead. Shorter was starting to mount a comeback in the bottom of the third by loading the bases. However, the Lady Hawks were unable to drive in any runs. In the top of the fourth, the Lady Bucs doubled their score and their lead extended to six to nothing. Shorter once again got the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth but still could not get anyone to home plate. Christian Brothers then scored four runs in the seventh inning and the Lady Hawks could not climb their way back.
Game 2
Christian Brothers started the second game fast with two of their players hitting home runs which gave them a three to nothing lead. Two innings later, the Lady Bucs scored three more runs which gave them a six to nothing lead. The bottom of the third looked promising for the Lady Hawks as
Payton Tuder doubled to right-center which advanced
Paytn Cripps to third, then
Angela Cecere walked which loaded the bases, but once again the Lady Hawks could not drive in any runs. However, in the bottom of the fourth, the Lady Hawks found some rhythm on offense when
Paytn Cripps singled to center field which scored
Kaylee George.
Payton Tuder then followed with a single of her own which meant that there were runners on the corners with two outs.
Alexis Sewell came up to bat and singled to right field which drove in
Paytn Cripps. Sydney Posten reached first on a fielder's choice which scored
Payton Tuder to end the scoring for the Lady Hawks who were down six to three after the fourth. The Lady Bucs answered with five runs in the top of the fifth inning which extended their lead to 11-3 and the Lady Hawks were unable to answer in the bottom of the fifth.
The Lady Hawks will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday April 3
rd at noon for the final game of the series against Christian Brothers.
