HUNTSVILLE, Ala.- The Lady Hawks finished their weekend series against the #13 Lady Chargers of the University of Alabama in Huntsville. After jumping out to a four to one lead in the first inning, the Lady Hawks were unable to stop the Lady Chargers from making a comeback and winning the game 11 to seven.
Taylor Phillips started the scoring in the first inning with a double to left center which scored Payton Tudor and
Sydney Poston.
Kiera Dudley followed with a bases-clearing double of her own which scored
Kaylee Combs and
Taylor Phillips. The Lady Chargers then scored nine unanswered runs to lead nine to four through four innings.
Kaylee Combs stepped up to the plate in the fifth inning and homered to left field to cut the lead down to four. The Lady Chargers hit a home run of their own in the sixth inning to extend their lead to six. The Lady Hawks tried to mount a comeback in the seventh inning when
Taylor Phillips hit a two-run home run to make it an 11 to seven game, but sadly the Lady Hawks could not complete the comeback.
The Lady Hawks will be back in action Wednesday April 21
st to take on #3 North Georgia in Dahlonega for a doubleheader starting at 3pm.
