Lady Hawks drop two to Flames in Offensive Battle

CLEVELAND, Tenn.—The Lady Hawks softball team traveled to Lee University for a doubleheader on Friday. The Flames took both games but the Hawks started to get their offensive game back by making it to double digit in the hits category. The final score of game one was 11-3 and the second game was 13-11.
 
Game 1
The Flames lead the game off with Taylor De Adder hitting a two-run homerun in the bottom of the first. Then in the bottom of the third Madison Besaw hit a grand slam to left center to take the score 6-0. In the top of the fourth Kiera Dudley hit a three-run homerun which scored Kaylee George and Kaylee Combs, 6-3. Lee continued to score in the bottom of the fifth with a single through the left side from AnnaMarie Stooksbury which scored one. Then Abby McKinney hit a grandslam to take the game 11-3.
 
The Hawks combined a total of eight hits while Lee recorded 10. Sydney Poston and George both recorded two hits. Payton Tuder, Combs, Dudley, and Angela Cecere each added in one hit.
 
Game 2
The Lady Hawks came out with an offensive explosion recording a total 11 hits which last happened against Young Harris back in February. Tuder was the second batter of the game and homered down the left field line for Shorter to score first, 1-0. Following suit, Taylor Phillips hit a two-run homerun to left center in the top of the second, 3-0. In the bottom of the second the Flames came out and took the lead with an RBI single from Stooksbury followed by a homerun from Shelby Cole, 4-3. Besaw recorded her second homerun of the day in the bottom of the third to take the score 6-3. The Hawks came out in the fifth with a homerun from Kaylee Combs that scored Tuder. Then Carlee Graham hit a three-run homer to left field, 9-8. Dudley recorded her second homerun on the day in the top of the sixth to score Hannah Morales and Tuder. Dudley's homerun helped the Hawks take back the lead 11-9. But the Flames came back in the bottom of the sixth to get two runs across the plate and then held the Hawks in the seventh to take the win.

Combs led the Hawks with three hits on four at bats. Tuder, Graham and Phillips each had two hits while Anslee Anderson and Dudley added in one hit each.
 
The Hawks look to take on the Flames to finish out the series on Saturday with first pitch at 1p.m.
