ROME,Ga.—The Lady Hawks fell to the Wolves on Friday evening at Alto Park with a final score of 5-1. Kaylee Combs hit a homer in the bottom of the fourth to score the lone run for the Hawks.
The Hawks will fall to 4-8 overall and 0-4 GSC while the Wolves improve to 7-3 overall and 5-2 in the GSC.
The Wolves came out firing the bats in the top of the second inning which all started with a double from Alley Taylor then Leslie Brogden hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Taylor and bring across the first run of the game. Another double from Kristyn Nix scored two more runs. Kayla Hughes then homered to left field to score two more runs, 5-0. In the bottom of the fourth the Combs hit a home run over the left field fence to add one on the board for the Hawks,5-1. The Hawks and Wolves kept the game to 5-1 throughout the last three innings.
Shorter combined for a total of three hits on one run. Combs, Sydney Poston and Taylor Phillips each added in one hit.
The Hawks return back to Alto Park for a doubleheader against the Wolves on Saturday with games at 1 and 3p.m.
