CLINTON, MS—The Lady Hawks softball team traveled to Mississippi College for a Gulf South Conference weekend matchup. Shorter lost all three games of the series with the score of the 6-2 in the first game, 10-0 in the second game and then 8-0 in the third game on Sunday.
Shorter ends with weekend with a 4-16 overall record and 0-12 in the GSC while Mississippi College improved to 9-11 overall and 8-7 in GSC.
Game 1:
The Lady Hawks started out with the first ones to put up runs on the board in the top of the third inning when
Hannah Morales singled to left field which advanced
Colbi Ballard to second. Then
Kaylee Combs reached first base on a fielding error which scored Ballard. Then
Kylie League singled to shortstop which scored Morales, 2-0.
The Choctaws came back in the bottom of the fourth inning to score two runs and tie the game up. Brooke Fagan hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield which scored Paige Hulin. Then Morgan Bradford executed a sac bunt to score Rayne Minor. Unfortunately, the Hawks weren't able to get any more runs across the board but the Choctaws had a big three run inning in the bottom of the fifth to take the score 6-2.
Morales led the Hawks offensively by going 2-3 along with a sacrifice bunt.

Kiera Dudley,
Angela Cecere, Combs and League all added in one hit each. Shorter outhit Mississippi College 7-6.
Game 2:
Shorter came out flat with the bats but the Choctaws kept up with their offensive explosion and scored 10 runs on nine hits.
Game 3:
In the final game of the series, Shorter recorded two hits on zero runs as MC recorded nine hits and scored eight. Ballard and Poston both added in one hit each.
The Hawks will return home for a mid-week double header against Georgia Southwestern on Tuesday with games at 4 and 6 p.m.
