ROME, Ga. – The Shorter Hawks men's basketball team fell 89-79 in a Gulf South Conference (GSC) game against the University of Montevallo Falcons on Saturday afternoon in the Winthrop-King Centre to conclude the 2020-21 season. Saturday was also Senior Day for the Hawks, and senior Kendale Chambers was honored on the court before the game.
Shorter ended the season 4-13 while Montevallo ended its regular season with an 8-8 record. Montevallo will play in the GSC tournament after last night's win against the Hawks.
Jay Shropshire led the way for the Hawks with 21 points and 3 rebounds. Ricky Knight Jr. scored 17 points while Kendale Chambers Jr. scored 16 points. Kelan Walker scored 11 points and Jaden Dunham scored 6 points and had 10 rebounds for Shorter.
Xavier Malcom led the way for the Falcons with 26 points. Travarus Carroll had 12 points and 8 rebounds while James McNeil and Mason Shifflett each contributed 11 points. Shannon Woody scored 8 points and had 9 rebounds for Montevallo.
