Jonathan Pintaro, who looked to improve his 4-1 record.
The Blazers did not waste any time breaking the game open, as they drove in two runs from David Mayberry on an RBI single and a fielder's choice that scores a run from Chase Coker. Pintaro settled in after the first inning, where the pitching duel developed between Elijah Gill and Pintaro. Mayberry drove in another run in the sixth inning, giving the Blazers a 3-0 lead and ending Pintaro's outing. Gill pitched seven shutout innings before turning it over to the bullpen. Logan Stephens drove in the game's final run, taking the lead 4-0 in the top of the ninth. This loss ended the Hawks' five-game winning streak.
Game 2: The Shorter Hawks (8-3) took on VSU (7-4) for their doubleheader's second game this afternoon. The Hawks went out behind their senior arm
Taylor Boisclair who was looking for his first win of the season.
The Hawks broke the game open in the bottom of the second, with an RBI double from
Aaron Reardon. They were followed by a two-RBI single from
Jacob Pajer, giving the Hawks a 3-0 lead. Boisclair continued to deal for the Hawks as more runs were added on in support in the seventh.
Kaleeq Brannigan had a three-run shot for the Hawks, stretching the lead to 6-0. This was then followed up by a two-run shot from
Matt Christian, giving the Hawks an 8-0 lead in the bottom of the seventh. A solo home run capped off the Hawks' offense from
Luis Acevedo, taking the lead to 9-0. Boisclair ended up pitching a complete-game shutout for the Hawks, earning his first win of the season with 15 strikeouts to go along with it.
