ROME, Ga.- The Shorter Lady Hawks hosted the Lady Blazers of
Valdosta State University (VSU) on Saturday afternoon in the first home conference matchup of the season at the Winthrop-King Centre. The Lady Blazers proved to be way too much for the home team to handle, as VSU won 88-40.

After finding themselves down 11-0 midway through the first quarter, the Lady Hawks clawed back to a seven-point deficit at the end of the first period (19-12) via a layup by
Jasmine Gaines. From there, VSU (7-1, 2-0) started expanding their lead and ran away with it.
VSU's Kwajelin Farrar put up a game-high 23 points and tied for first on the team in rebounds with seven. Teammate India Jordan finished second on the visitors in scoring with 17 while accounting for five steals and two assists. Mallory Odell added 13 points, seven rebounds, an assist and a steal.Â

The Lady Hawks (1-4, 0-3) will quickly return to the hardwood on Monday, as they will play their second-straight home game versus the University of West Florida at 5:30 p.m.Â
