ROME, Ga. – The Shorter Hawks fell 85-70 to the Valdosta State University Blazers in the team's first home game of the 2021-22 season.
After tonight's game, the Hawks are 3-5 on the season and 0-3 in Gulf South Conference (GSC) play. The Blazers are now 5-4 on the season and 1-1 in GSC play.
Shorter took the lead early in the first half and was 26-17 with just under nine minutes left in the half. However, the Blazers started to come back after this, and the score was 44-36 Blazers at the half.
Raphael Houssou led the way for the Hawks with 18 points.
Grant Atchley had 14 points while
Ricky Knight Jr. had 12 points and five rebounds.
The Hawks return to action on Monday, December 13 against the University of West Florida to continue GSC play. Tip-off will be at 7:30 p.m. in the Winthrop-King Centre.
