Box Score Nashville, TN. – The Shorter University women's basketball team fell to NCAA DI opponent, Lipscomb University, on the road on Tuesday night 73-50 to close out their 2021-22 exhibition schedule.
Both
Jasmine Gaines and
Kelly Pickett were great against their Atlantic Sun Conference opponent. Gaines finished the game with her first double-double of the year with 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Pickett tallied in 17 points.
Tiara Lewis added 7 rebounds.
Shorter jumped on Lipscomb early in the first quarter. Points from Gaines,
Lindsay Bowman and Lewis helped the Hawks to a 9-4 lead. Lipscomb clawed back and closed the first quarter out with a 15-11 lead. Gaines gave the Bisons more than they could handle, ending the second quarter with 16 points. Shorter trailed by 3 going into the half, 31-28. The Hawks were outscored by 15 points in the 3rd quarter, and were held to 19% from the field in the third quarter.
The Hawks will now look ahead to the regular-season opener at home on Friday night against Fort Valley. The contest against the Lady Wildcats is scheduled to begin at 5:30 in Rome, GA in Winthrop-King Centre.
