Rome, GA- Hawks opened their season at home with a matchup against the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels.  The Hawks battled their way through the cold and rain but sadly their efforts fell short and they lost 10-9.
Scoring Breakdown:

• Jacob Woodard opened the scoring for the Hawks at the end of the first quarter.
• Trey Edge followed with his own goal and assist by Kaleb Roehn early in the second quarter.
• Jacob Woodard followed with another unassisted goal.
• Trey Edge scored his second of the game with an assist from Jimmie Kemp III.
• Will Millwood scored the next two goals with assists from Jacob Woodard on both.
• Kaleb Roehn scored the next goal with an assist from Will Millwood.
• Will Millwood scored the final goal for Shorter with an assist from Trey Edge.

Noteworthy:

• Will Millwood led the team in scoring with 4 goals.
• Jacob Woodard led the team in shots with 13, but Will Millwood led the team in shots on goal with 10.
• At one point in this game, the Hawks were down 8-4 but they came roaring back by scoring 5 straight unanswered goals in the third quarter to take a lead of 9-8.
• Shorter led Oglethorpe in shots; 38-37 and shots on goal; 28-20.
• The Hawks only committed 16 turnovers while Oglethorpe committed 24 turnovers.
