ROME, Ga. - The Shorter Hawks added 23 new commitments to boost their football program on National Signing Day. Included in the class are several highly decorated high school standouts and players who look to make an immediate impact on the gridiron.

Coach Morrison stated, "The 2020 class brings the Shorter University Football team to a new level. I am extremely excited about the student-athletes coming in and building this program, Brick by Brick." Morrison added, "We were able to address team needs such as adding length, speed and physicality to the program, which are main components to providing growth to the program."  "This class provides toughness to the team and will promote more competition than ever," stated Morrison. "Our ability to recruit players from multiple states is evidence that our coaches can effectively sell our culture and the University's main mission of, "Transforming Lives Through Christ." We are very excited to welcome these players to Rome, GA and the Shorter University, both of which will serve as their home for the next 4 years."

Harold Cook IV (Tampa, FL; Calvary Christian High School) - His senior year, Cook was invited to Elite 11 and Rivals combines among several others. After a successful summer, Cook threw for 2219 yards and 27 touchdowns during his final high school season. He was invited to the Pinellas All-Stars and was the top quarterback in the county. While at Shorter University, Cook plans to study Sports Medicine and will pursue a career as an athletic trainer.

Lanadarick Bradley (Lake City, FL; Columbia High School) - During his high school campaign, Bradley accounted for almost 1100 receiving yards and 11 total touchdowns. Throughout his senior season, Bradley tallied 884 yards through the air and 6 receiving touchdowns.

Carl Flowers Jr. (Jacksonville, FL; Robert E. Lee High School) - Recording over 100 pancake blocks during his senior year, Flowers Jr. was named to the All-Conference team. While at Shorter, Flowers Jr. plans to major in Business.

Darius Kimble (Lake City, FL; Columbia High School) - Kimble had an outstanding senior season for Columbia High School and was recognized a member of the All-Area first team. Kimble had 45 pancake blocks while allowing just three sacks on the season.

Bryan Rice (Nolensville, TN; Ravenwood High School) - Throughout a successful high school career, Rice recorded 207 tackles. Rice was named All-Region Player of the Year twice, in addition to being selected to the All-Conference, All-District, and All-State teams. While at Shorter, Rice plans to study Business.

Joseph Nieves (Orlando, FL; Nease High School) - Nieves is a dual-threat quarterback from Ponte Verde, FL who finished just a hair short of 3000 total yards during the 2019 season. During his senior season, Nieves threw for 2019 yards and 19 touchdowns, while adding 980 yards on the ground and 12 touchdowns. While on The Hill, Nieves plans to major in Business Management.

Trey Williams (West Point, GA; Troup High School) - Williams caught the attention of several coaching staffs with an outstanding senior season. During his final high school campaign, Williams rushed for 1462 yards. On the season, he put together 2,135 all-purpose yards and 17 touchdowns on his way to a first-team All-Region selection and an honorable mention for the All-State team.

Tyrell Owens (Perry, GA; Perry High School) - During high school, Owens played running back and free safety for the Perry Panthers

Dorian Anderson (Murfreesboro, TN ;Oakland High School) - Two way player at Oakland High School playing wide receiver and defensive back. During Anderson's junior year, Oakland High School captured the TSSAA Class 6A State Championship with a 14-1 record.

Ty Carr (Moultrie, GA; Warner Robins High School) - Over the course of his time at Warner Robins, Carr hauled in 1225 receiving yards and 93 total catches. As a two-way player, Carr also picked off three passes. Once he gets to Shorter, Carr plans to major in Sports Medicine.

Richard Nelson (Columbus, GA; Carver High School) - Nelson was a two-way player for Carver High School. During his final campaign, Nelson hauled in four touchdown receptions and added 17 tackles on the defensive side of the ball.

Kyah Plummer (Warner Robins, GA; Houston County High School) - Throughout a storied high school career, Plummer hauled in 46 receptions for 813 yards and five touchdowns. While at Houston County, Plummer was twice named to the second-team All-Region team. Plummer plans to pursue a degree in either Business or Criminal Justice from Shorter University.

Kyle Morlock (Blairsville, GA; Union County High School) - During his high school career, Morlock hauled in over 1500 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns - averaging 17 yards per reception. Morlock brings a combination of explosiveness and toughness that are unrivalled.

Archer Hathaway (Tifton, GA; Tidy County High School) - Hathaway had a stellar high school career where he was named to the All-Region team in each of his four seasons and was named to the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association All-Star for three seasons. To top it all off, Hathaway was named to the All-State team in 2018.

Qwen Moss (Eberton, GA; Elbert County High School) - Moss was named to the first team All-Region during his senior year and was also an honorable mention for All-State. During his junior year, Moss was named as a member of the second team All-Region.

George Cooper (Jacksonville, FL; First Coast High School) - The defensive lineman from the Sunshine State put together a strong final high school campaign.

Micaiah Ross (Anniston, AL; Anniston High School) - Ross put together some eye-popping numbers throughout his high school career. Recording 105 tackles, including 14 sacks and 5 tackles for a loss, Ross was named to the All-County team. Once he gets to Shorter, Ross plans to major in Criminal Justice.

Ty-Sean Morgan-Ford (Dallas, GA; North Paulding High School) - His senior high school season, Morgan-Ford recorded 60 tackles and four sacks.

Gabe Hill (Dalton, GA; Dalton High School) - Hill put together an impressive senior season at Dalton High School, averaging 9.1 tackles per game. Hill brought down 82 opponents to go alongside a trio of sacks, four forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. Hill was also an All-Region honorable mention. He plans to major in Criminal Justice with goals to become a game warden or park ranger following graduation from Shorter University.

Devonn Lane (Valdosta, GA; Lowndes High School) - Throughout his career, Lane tallied 177 total tackles, including 100 solo tackles. In addition, he recorded 7.5 sacks, a fumble recovery, and an interception. Lane was named to the first-team All-Region and was a three-time Player of the Week.

Malachi Weatherspoon (Byron, GA; Warner Robins High School) - Weatherspoon recorded 90 tackles, 55 of which were solo stops. In addition, the second-team All-Region selection recorded three tackles for a loss and an interception during his senior campaign. Weatherspoon plans to study Nursing while at Shorter.

Derek Gibson (Ringgold, GA; Heritage High School) - Gibson had 25 pancake blocks, and 18 knockdowns in his high school career. He was also a team captain, a 3x all region, all state honorable mention. Gibson was named best of preps team by the Chattanooga Times Free Press.
