The Shorter Hawks (11-2,1-2,) lost game one of their three game series against the West Georgia Wolves (10-4,5-2) by a score of 8-3.

West Georgia struck first in the top of the 3
rd when John Michael McRae grounded into a double play that scored Brody Wortham, and gave the Wolves the early 1-0 advantage in the top of the third.

The Wolves would add to their lead in the top of the 6
th with the help of some timely hits, and some costly errors by the Hawks defense. Collin Moore brought in two runs on an RBI double, Dan Oberst singled to left and Moore was able to score on a throwing error by the Hawks catcher Nate Butterworth, and Joseph Hill and Oberst scored on an error by Hawks first baseman
Cory Mason when a bases loaded pickoff attempt went off of his glove down the right field line. The score heading into the bottom of the 6
th inning was 6-0 West Georgia.

Shorter would get on the board in the bottom of the 6
th when Nate Butterworth hit an RBI single down the third base line to score
Cory Mason, making the score 6-1 still in favor of the Wolves.

West Georgia would add two more runs in the top of the 9
th to give them some more insurance. The first run came when Collin Moore walked with the bases loaded, and the second came Dan Oberst reached on an RBI fielder's choice, increasing the Wolves advantage to 8-1.

Shorter would score two runs in the bottom of the 9
th when
Bailey Gerstner sent his second homerun of the season over the fence in right field to bring the score to 8-3.

Chad Davis started on the mound for the Hawks and threw 5.1 innings, giving up 6 runs, 1 of which was earned, striking out 3 batters, and walking 2.
Coleton Barnes threw an inning in relief for the Hawks striking out 2.
