Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala.-- Julia Peroni led the Lady Hawks to their first win of the 2020-2021 season against the Auburn-Montgomery Warhawks with 18 points.
Shorter started the game off hot with a 10-2 scoring run which included two 3-pt shots by Julia Peroni. Freshman duo Julia Peroni and Alicyn McCollum scored 18 and 17 points, and pulled down seven and six rebounds, respectively. The Hawks went into the locker room with a two-point lead at halftime. In the second half, both teams came out firing on all cylinders. The game was close throughout the second half and Shorter was able to hold their lead and win 71-64. Â
The Hawks were able to capitalize off the 28 turnovers that the Warhawks committed and score 21 points. The Lady Hawks bench had a stellar performance and scored 33 points compared to the Warhawks bench that only scored 7. Shorter had the lead for 63.4 percent of the game, shot 40.6 percent from the field, 39.1 from 3 point range, and 90.9 from the free throw line.
The Lady Hawks will play their first home game of the season on Wednesday, December 16th with tip off slated for 6p.m. against Lee University.Â
