Rome, GA- The Lady Hawks (0-12, 0-7 Gulf South) were back home for a matchup with the West Florida Argonauts (5-11, 1-7 Gulf South). The Lady Hawks led in second quarter, 14-8, but West Florida led the other three quarters; 23-22, 23-20, and 18-17. The lead that the Lady Hawks built in the first half allowed them to hold off a late comeback by the Argonauts for their first win of the season!
The Lady Hawks were led by
Jasmine Gaines who scored 23 points and Mekala Fuller who scored 21 points against the Argonauts defense. Mekala Fuller led the team in rebounds with 6 followed by
Jasmine Gaines who had 5 rebounds.  The Lady Hawks scored 24 points off of the 16 turnovers that the Argonauts committed. The Lady Hawks also stole the ball from the Argonauts 9 times in the game and the largest lead that the Lady Hawks had was 9 points.
The Lady Hawks lead for 35:25 minutes of the game while the Argonauts only lead for 2:45 of the game. The Lady Hawks also held their largest lead of 9 points for 7:55 minutes in the game! The Lady Hawks led the Argonauts in 3-point percentage; 46.2% to 41.2%, and they led in free throw percentage; 81.8% to 62.5%. Our Lady Hawks fought very hard to keep their lead and it was a very intense last minute of play, but they were able to hold off the Argonauts and capture their first win of the season!
