Eagles Fly Past Hawks

Box Score JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – In non-conference play, Shorter (1-2, 0-0) fell on the road to Carson-Newman 113-98.
 
Carson-Newman opened the game on an 8-0 run and never looked back. Going into halftime, the Eagles held a 68-45 lead.
 
After the break, the Hawks outscored the Eagles 53-45. Shorter caught fire late, ending the game on a 13-3 run but it was too little, too late.
 
Five Hawks scored in double-figures with Jay Shropshire pouring in 26 to lead the way. Bryan Polanco pulled down 13 rebounds to go with 12 points for a double-double. Not far off, Keeving Etienne was a rebound short of a double-double, tallying 13 points and 9 boards. Also in double-figures for Shorter were Tyler Goodman and Frenki Lilaj.
 
On the offensive glass, Shorter picked up 21 offensive rebounds and converted for 21 second chance points.

On Saturday, the Hawks look to bounce back on the road to King University for another non-conference matchup. Tipoff from Bristol, Tennessee is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
