ROME -- The Hawks fell to Lee, 6-3, Sunday afternoon to close out the 2018 season.
With the loss, Shorter finishes the year 23-25 overall and 11-19 in conference play; while the Flames enter post season 25-24 on the year and 16-13 in the GSC.
The Hawks scored first, tacking on three in the first inning.
Isaiah Maddela got things going with a two run double to plate
Samyr Santos and
Raul Cortes. Before
Hunter Reaid followed with a single to bring in Maddela.
From there, however, Lee posted six unanswered runs to earn the 6-3 win.
Jesse Wheeler took the loss, allowing four runs – three earned – on five hits with a walk through 2.2 inning of relief.
Maddela closed out his Shorter career 4-4 at the plate with 2 RBI. While,
Luis Acevedo and Reaid each added a hit.
