Valdosta, Ga. --Â The Hawks fell to Valdosta State, 13-2, Sunday afternoon to close out the final road series of the season.
With the loss, Shorter moves to 22-23 on the season and 10-18 in the GSC; while the Blazers move to 17-25 overall and 11-16 in conference play.
After the Hawks jumped out to a 1-0 led in the second on a sacrifice fly from
Victor Perez, Valdosta State answered with six runs in the third to put the game away. And added to it in the fourth with four to make it a 10-1 game, before tacking on three in the sixth for the 13-1 score. Shorter the broke through for a run in the seventh, on a sacrifice fly from
Bailey Gerstner, for the 13-2 final score.
Victor Santana took the loss, allowing five runs on four hits through two innings of work.

Tyler Cates each pitched as well.
Luis Acevedo led the offense with two of the Hawks five hits.
Shorter will close out the season with four games at home. Hosted Miles in non-conference action Tuesday, before welcoming longtime rival, Lee, to the Robert H. Ledbetter Baseball Complex for the final GSC series.
