Cleveland, Tenn. --Â The Lady Hawks fell to Lee, 19-2, Friday evening on the road.
With the loss, Shorter moves to 0-9 on the season and 0-7 in conference play; while the Lady Flames moves to 9-8 overall and 3-5 in the GSC.
Lee jumped out to an early lead, scoring the game's first six goals. Before the Lady Hawks broke through with their first of the night as
Aubrey Geiger found the back of the net midway through the first half. The Lady Flames then added to their lead, taking a 14-1 advantage into halftime.
After the break, Lee added four goals to make it an 18-1 game when Geiger scored for the second time in the game with 10:45 to play. The Lady Flames then tacked on one final goal just before time expired for the 19-2 score.
In total Lee outshot Shorter 34-13; while both teams tallied seven shots – with five on goal – during the second half. Both teams committed 19 turnovers, with the Lady Flames holding a narrow 35-30 advantage in ground balls.
Geiger led the offensive effort with two goals on five shots. While,
Anna Kate Dulaney,
Tayler Ferqueron and
Allie Perry each took two shots apiece. Defensively, Ferqueron and
Alexa Moore added two caused turnovers each. And,
Peyton Reid made five saves in goal.
Becca Broadwick led the Lady Flames with four goals; while Emma Hill added a goal and five assists.
The Lady Hawks will close out the season on the road at Alabama Huntsville on Wednesday, April 18. Game time is set for 5:00pm ET from Charger Park.
