ROME --Â The Lady Hawks opened the 2018 season with a 5-4 win over Georgia Southwestern Saturday afternoon.
With the win, Shorter moves to 1-0 on the year, while the Canes slip to 0-2 overall.
Leading 2-1 after doubles, the Lady Hawks secured the win in singles with three wins. In doubles,
Aleksandra Durzynski and
Melinda Chrun partnered to win at number one, 8-3. While,
Anastasia Jovicic and
Martina Radinovic tallied an 8-1 victory. in singles Shorter got wins at one, two, and three to sure up the victory. Durzynski earned a 6-0, 6-0 straight sets win. Chrun turned in a 6-0, 6-1 win, and Jovicic notched a 6-2, 6-2 decision.
The Lady Hawks are back in action Wednesday, February 7, as they open GSC play at Valdosta State.Â
