No. 2 North Georgia sweeps Softball in non-conference play

Dahlonega, Ga. -- No. 2 North Georgia blanked the Lady Hawks en route to a doubleheader sweep, via 2-0 scores in each.

With the losses, Shorter moves to 6-6 on the season; while the NightHawks improve to 17-0.

GAME 1: UNG 2, SU 0
The Lady Hawks kept North Georgia scoreless until the fourth when Kaylyn Anthony delivered an RBI double to left field to bring in Shelby Hammontree; who homered to right in the sixth for the 2-0 final score.

Taylor Martin delivered Shorter's lone hit, a single to lead off the seventh, but was stranded at third as Taylor Ann Oda struck out the end the game. The Lady Hawks saw their best chance to score come in the sixth when Oda walked to lead off the inning, and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Ashley Langel. Before moving to third when Tiffany Holland reached on an error. Carson Carriker was hit by a pitch to load the bases; only to have the inning end on a force out of Holland on a fielder's choice.

Payton Lippert pitched the complete game, allowing one earned run on six hits with four strikeouts. UNG pitcher, Kylee Smith, earned the win; tallying 11 strikeouts through seven innings.

GAME 2: UNG 2, SU 0
En route to the 2-0 score, the NightHawks tallied both runs in the first on RBI singles from Alishia Frierson and Anthony.

The Lady Hawks had a baserunner in the fifth and sixth, but weren't able to score as Martin was left on second in the fifth after leading off the inning with a walk and Holland was stranded in the sixth after reaching base on an infield single.
