Valdosta, Ga. --Â The Lady Hawks fell to Valdosta State, 67-42, Thursday night to begin the final road trip of the year.
With the loss, Shorter moves to 5-15 overall and 3-11 in the GSC; while the Blazers improve to 15-7 on the season and 9-5 in conference play.
Valdosta State pulled away early, using a 12-4 run to start the game and take a 10-point advantage into the second quarter. Where the Lady Hawks turned things around with a 7-2 run to cut the lead to three on a layup from
Raven Fair with 7:00 to play in the half. Only to have the Blazers answer with a late run of their own to regain the 10-point lead heading into the halftime break.
The Lady Hawks struggled to get anything going in the second half, as they were held to 21 total points during the final twenty minutes. While, VSU tacked on 35 of their own for the 67-42 final score.
In total, Shorter shot 26 percent for the game, while being held to a seven percent night from beyond the arc. The Blazers tallied 43 percent of their shots, including 18 percent from the three-point range.
Fair led the offense for the Lady Hawks, tallying 14 points to go along with seven rebounds.
BreAnna Thompson and
Denise Newton joined her in double-figures with 12 and 10, respectively.
???????Madi Mitchell led Valdosta State with 15 points, 11 rebounds.
The Lady Hawks will look to get back into the win column Saturday afternoon as they travel to West Florida for a 3:00pm ET start.
