Due West, S.C. -- The Lady Hawks won both games Friday afternoon on Day One of the Erskine Fall Invitational; topping King 3-0, and UVA-Wise 3-1.
Against the Tornado, Shorter tallied set scores of 25-17, 25-20, and 25-19; while against the Cavaliers, the Lady Hawks recorded scores of 25-16, 17-25, 28-26, and 25-11 in the win.
Madeline Munroe led the offense for Shorter against King, tallying 8 kills for the match; while
Danielle Melton added 7 and both,
Tinsley Fain and
Iva Luther, chipped in the with 12 assists. At the service line, Luther posted a team high three aces.
On defense,
Cheyenne McLemore finished with nine digs, while
Tiffani Estep, Melton,
Hannah Flack and
Morgan Cleveland each had a hand in two blocks.
In game two, both Munroe and Estep finished with 11 kills; while
Kelsi Jones and Melton added nine. Luther led with 24 assists, to go along with Fain's 22 for the game. With
Annie Homan posting four aces to aid in the win.
On defense, McLemore was the lone player to finish in double-figures in digs, turning in 18. While at the net, Jones and Estep recorded five blocks each.
The Lady Hawks are back in action Saturday afternoon as 12:00pm against host, Erskine; before closing out the weekend against Coker at 5:00pm.Â
