Huntsville, Ala. -- The Hawks closed out the 2017 season with a 23-4 setback at Alabama Huntsville.
Shorter finishes the year 0-14, while the Chargers posted a 6-7 record on the season.
After UAH took a 3-0 lead in the first quarter, the Hawks broke through for their first goal of the game as
Austin Zumbado found the back of the net for the 20
th time this season. But, from there the Chargers pulled away.
In the third quarter,
Matt McHugh tallied his first goal of the game to make it a 15-2 game with 12:23 to play in the period.
In the fourth quarter, the Hawks scored twice, first from McHugh with 11:51 remaining for his 12
th of the season. Then as
William Millwood netted his seventh score of the year with 6:44 to play in contest. UAH added two final goals for the 23-4 score before the game was called with 2:03 to play due to lightning.
McHugh scored twice to lead the offense, while five different players on defense caused a turnover.
Chad Halili finished with a team high six ground balls.
Garry Robinson and
Richard Ticer split time in goal, making 17 total saves. Robinson tallied 11 through the second half. Robinson finishes the year with 208 saves. Entering the game the pair ranked 1
st in Division II in saves (234) and saves per game (18.00); while Robinson was second individually in saves per game.
