The Lady Hawks earned their fifth win of the season Wednesday; topping Moravian College 17-14 from Davenport, Fla.
Morgan LeBlanc got thing going for Shorter, netting her first goal of the afternoon during the first minute of play. The Greyhounds quickly responded, taking the lead on three consecutive goals from Jillian Picciuto. Before LeBlanc added her second with 23:33 to play.
Hannah Pridemore followed with one of her own moments to tie the game.
Moravian then went back-to-back to make it a 5-3 game, but the Lady Hawks answered with two from
Crystal Marshall to keep the game tied with 13:04 to play. Only to have the Greyhounds counter with three to take the lead 8-5 with 2:11 remaining.
Aubrey Geiger added a goal for Shorter for the 8-6 score as the game moved to halftime.
After the break, Morvian extended their lead to 10-7, before the Lady Hawks rattled off five straight to swing the momentum into their favor 12-10 with 12:20 to go. During the run Shorter got goal from Morgan Perron,
Anna Kate Dulaney, Pridemore, Marshall, and
McKinley Puckett.
The Greyhounds, once again, rallied to tie things up, but the Lady Hawks held off the advances with four straight to keep the lead, 16-12. Pridemore started things off with her fourth goal of the night on a pass from Marshall, and was followed by consecutive goals from LeBlanc, before capping the run with her fifth of the game with 8:42 to play.
Through the final eight minutes, Moravian added two final goals; while LeBlanc added her fifth of the game for Shorter for the 17-14 final score.
LeBlanc and Pridemore each finished with five goals in the game; while LeBlance also added two assists. Marshall finished with five points on three goals and two assists.
Catherine Mitchner played the complete game in goal for Shorter, making 16 saves.
Shorter returns to action and to Ben Brady Field Saturday at 2:00pm against North Greenville.
