Lady Hawks shut out Lee, 22-0

Cleveland, Tenn. -- The Lady Hawks earned their sixth win of the season Tuesday afternoon, shutting out GSC newcomer, Lee, 22-0 on the road.

Shorter moves to 6-3 on the year and 2-2 in conference play; while the Flames slip to 0-6 overall and 0-3 in the GSC.

Morgan Perrone got the scoring started for Shorter, netting what would prove to be the game winner seven minutes in, as the Lady Hawks held the Flames scoreless for the first time this season.

Shorter went into halftime up 15-0, and added seven in the second half for the 22-0 final score.

In total, nine different players finished in the scoring column for the Lady Hawks; while five players scored at least twice. Perrone led the offense with five goals and two assists for seven points on the night; while Crystal Marshall added four goals and four assists. McKinley Puckett added four, Morgan LeBlanc tallied three and Aubrey Geiger scored twice in the second half.

The Lady Hawks' defense held the Flames to just five shots in the game with three on goal and all saved. Catherine Mitchner finished with two saves in just under fifty minutes of play; while Peyton Reid added one in ten minutes in goal.

Shorter finished 11-11 in clears on the night; while winning 14 of 23 draws, and collecting 28 ground balls.

The Lady Hawks will look to keep the momentum going Saturday afternoon, March 18, when they welcome Reinhardt to Ben Brady Field for a 4:00pm start.
