ROME -- The Hawks fell to Clark Atlanta Monday night, 88-65, in the final non-conference matchup of the year.
With the loss, Shorter moves to 1-9 on the season; while the Panthers improved to 9-1.
The Hawks kept things close through the most of the first half; taking the lead 16-15 on a three from
Amonte Potter with 9:28 to play. Only to have the Panthers answer with a jumper to regain the advantage, and tack on a 14-0 run over the next four minutes to make it a 31-16 game in their favor with five minutes remaining.
In the second half Clark Atlanta added to their lead, making it a 30-point game, 62-32, with 13:13 on the clock. Shorter answered with a 15-8 run to cut into the advantage, and outscored the Panthers 25-21 over the final ten minutes, but the lead was too much as Clark Atlanta held on for the win.
Three Hawks finished in double figures, led by Potter with 22.
Josh Burnett added 18 and
TayVaughn Major chipped in with 12.
The Panthers had five players with double figure point totals, led by Anthony Williams with 15.
Shorter returns to action, and Gulf South Conference play, Thursday December 14 at North Alabama. Game time is set for 9:00pm EST.
