Harrogate, Tenn. --Â The Hawks fell to No. 4 Lincoln Memorial 88-64 on the road Saturday afternoon.
Shorter slips to 0-4 on the year; while the Railsplitters improve to 3-0.
The Hawks got off to a good start against the ranked LMU team. After the Railsplitters jumped out to a big 23-6 advantage, Shorter came back with a 14-0 run, almost solely from
Josh Burnett himself as he tallied 11 points over the four-minute span. From there, the Hawks kept things close, going into halftime trailing by five, 44-39.
After the break, Shorter opened the half on a 6-0 run, taking the lead 45-44 on a pair of free throws from
TayVaughn Major. But the lead was short lived, as LMU stormed back to with a 15-point outburst to take control of the game.
Major led the Hawks with 22 points, while Burnett added 20 and
Amonte Potter chipped in with 13.
The Railsplitters had four players finish in double figures, led by Trevon Shaw's 21.
The teams will be back in action Tuesday, November 21, as they face off against each other from the Winthrop-King Centre in Rome, Ga in the Hawks home opener. Game time is set for 7:00pm.
