ROME --Â The Hawks closed out the year Saturday afternoon, falling to Valdosta State, 52-0, from Barron Stadium.
With the loss, Shorter finishes the season 0-11 and 0-8 in conference play; while the Blazers finish 5-4 on the year and 5-3 in the GSC.
Valdosta State jumped out to an early leading, scoring three times in the opening quarter. And, from there, added to it; while holding the Hawks scoreless for the third time this season.
In total, the Blazers held the Hawks to 241 yards of offense; whereas tallying 530 yards of their own.
Tyler Pullum and
Austin Fellows split time under center, with Pullum finishing 9-18 passing with 74 yards and Fellows adding 60 yards on two completions.
B.J. McCoy closed out his Shorter career with is best offensive output of the season, tallying 98 yards on 17 carries. While,
Lewis Hayes led the receivers with 82 yards on four receptions.
On defense, three finished with more than ten tackles; led by
Austin Porter's 13.
Kareem Taylor and
Kevin Knight each added 12 for the afternoon, with Knight adding 3 pass breakups, as well, in his final game for Shorter.
