Pensacola, Fla. --Â The Lady Hawks fell in the regular season finale, 3-0, to West Florida on the road.
Shorter closes out the regular season 18-10 on the year and 11-5 in conference play; while the Argos move to 26-6 overall and 16-0 in the GSC.
For the match Saturday, UWF used 25-22, 25-9, and 25-20 wins to earn the victory; hitting .314 overall, while holding Shorter to a .087 day on offense.
Tiffani Estep led the offense with seven kills; while
Madeline Munroe added six and
Kelsi Jones finished with four. Tinsley Fain and Alli Bell each finished with 11 assists.
While, on defense,
Cheyenne McLemore was the only player to turn in double figure digs, posting 14 for the afternoon. And, at the net, Jones was the day's leader with six blocks – three solo and three assists. Estep had a hand in four, to go along with three from
Annie Homan.
With the loss, coupled with a UAH win, Shorter finishes in a three-way tie with the Chargers and West Alabama for third place in the conference standings, and with the tie breakers determined will serve as the five-seed heading into next weekend's tournament. The Lady Hawks will take on 4
th-seeded UAH on Friday, November 17, at 5:00pm ET (4:00pm CT) from the UWF Field House in Pensacola, Fla. The winner will take on West Florida in the semifinals.
