ROME -- The Hawks closed out the season Saturday afternoon; falling to Tampa, 5-1.
Shorter finishes the year 3-13 overall and 2-8 in conference play; while Spartans finish their regular season schedule with an 8-3-2 overall mark for the year.
Tampa got things started early, scoring their first goal of the afternoon in the second minute. Only to have the Hawks answer moments later with a score of their own to tie things up as 
Jordan Etsio netted a pass from 
Hassane Traore. From there the Spartans added four goals for the 5-1 score – two in the remaining minutes of the first half and two in the second.
In total, the Spartans posted 18 shots to Shorter's 7; while holding a 9-5 advantage in shots on goal.
Etsio led the offensive effort for the Hawks, recording three shots – two on goal – with the lone goal of the afternoon.

Daniel Gilley added a shot each, as well, in the contest. 
Sean Carpenter wrapped up the season with a complete game performance in goal, tallying four saves.
