Lakeland, Fla. -- The Lady Hawks fell to No. 12 Florida Southern, 20-3, Wednesday evening in the final game of their three game Spring Break slate.
Shorter moves to 1-7 on the season with the loss; while the Mocs improve to 4-2 overall.
Florida Southern jumped out to a big lead, scoring the game's first 11 goals.
Tiffany Kongpachith then put the Lady Hawks on the board with 8:09 to play in the first half on her eighth goal of the season. Before the Mocs tallied three final goals in the half to take a 14-1 lead into the break.
In the second half, Shorter held Florida Southern to six goals while adding two of their own for the 20-3 final score. The Mocs opened the frame with four goals, before
Crystal Marshall added her 29th goal of the season with 22:12 to play. And, after Florida Southern added two final goals,
McKinley Puckett posted her 13th of the season for the Lady Hawks on a pass from
Kari Chambers.
In total Shorter was held to just eight shots in the game, while six were on target. The Lady Hawks also added five draw controls and six ground balls on the night.
Catherine MItchner made seven saves in goal for Shorter, while also collecting two ground balls.
Anna Kate Dulaney caused a team high three turnovers for the game, while
Tayler Ferqueron added two.
Shorter will look to get back in the win column on March 16 when they welcome Shepherd University to Ben Brady Field for a 5:00pm start. Â
