Kongpachith nets three in Lady Hawks loss to Shepherd

ROME -- Tiffany Kongpachith tallied her first career hat trick in the Lady Hawks loss to Shepherd, 17-5.

After falling behind, 6-0, in the first ten minutes of the game Kongpachith put Shorter (2-8) on the board with her first goal of the day and over the next five minutes tacked on two more. At 15:07 to play, Alex Abbey found the back of the net for the second time this season and Kongpachith posted her second of the day and tenth of the season with 14:09 remaining to make it an 8-3 game. The Rams answered moments later, and from there tacked on six unanswered goals to take a 14-3 lead into the break.

Shepherd (2-5) kept the momentum going into the second half, tallying three goals to start the half. Kongpachith broke the scoreless streak for the Lady Hawks with 8:06 for her third of the game. Kari Chambers turned in a final score for Shorter for the 17-5 final score.

Individually for Shorter, Catherine Mitchner turned in four saves in goal. While, Sarah Curlee posted a season high five caused turnovers, Aubrey Geiger collected six ground balls and both, Kongpachith and McKinley Puckett, controlled three draws.

The Rams were led by Haley Price's six goals on the day; while Erin Phelan added four.

The Lady Hawks will be back in action Saturday afternoon at 3:30pm when Converse College visits Ben Brady Field.
