ATLANTA, Ga. – The Lady Hawks faced off against the Clark Atlanta Panthers for the second time in less than a week and fell 71-65.
Shorter got off to a fast start in the opening quarter, as four different Lady Hawks scored the team's first 14 points, giving SU a 14-7 lead over Clark Atlanta.
Taylor Adams' layup with 1:20 to go in the first, her sixth field goal of the quarter, pushed Shorter's lead to double digits. 
Brittany Greene's pair of free throws increased the Lady Hawks lead to 13 points, the team's largest lead of the quarter. The Panthers (3-1) converted late in the opening period, but Shorter (0-4) held a 22-12 advantage after ten minutes of play.
Raven Fair's layup just 50 seconds into the second period moved Shorter's lead back to 12 points, 26-14. Down 12, Clark Atlanta used a 13-0 run over 6:22 to take a one-point lead, before 
Kayla Tillie's layup put the Lady Hawks back in front, 28-27.
CAU tied the game at 30 before Adams' hit a three, giving her 17 points for the half.
Despite holding a 33-30 lead with less than a minute remaining, SU surrendered four unanswered points, and trailed 34-33 at the half.
Three players, 
Jackie Hudson, Greene, and Adams, helped the Lady Hawks start the third period on a 6-0 run to take a five-point lead just 1:58 into the quarter.
After a CAU basket, Fair's three-pointer just prior to the halfway mark in the quarter period Shorter's lead to six, 42-36.
The Panthers battled back, retaking the lead with 1:18 remaining until the end of the third period. After three periods of play, Shorter trailed Clark Atlanta, 48-47.
The final ten minutes saw the Panthers increase their lead to as many as seven with 6:33 to go. Jumpers by Adams and Tillie pulled the Lady Hawks within three, 56-53.
SU cut the lead to four on multiple occasions, including once with only 62 seconds remaining, but could not overcome the deficit. Clark Atlanta used late free throws to maintain its lead and secure a 71-65 victory.
The Lady Hawks shot 36.2% from the field and outrebounded the Panthers 53-32. Clark Atlanta made 39.7% of its shots.
Adams recorded her third consecutive double-double with 37 points and 19 rebounds, including nine offensive boards. Tillie and Fair each scored eight. Reyana Miller and Marissa Mandeldove scored 24 and 23 points each for the Panthers.
Shorter returns to action after Thanksgiving when it hosts North Georgia. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29.
