Carrollton, Ga. -- The Lady Hawks began the final road trip of the season with a 3-1 win at West Georgia Tuesday evening.
Shorter improves to 19-6 overall and 14-3 in the Gulf South Conference; while the Wolves move to 7-23 on the season and 1-16 in conference play.
The Lady Hawks took the lead early, taking the first two sets by 25-19 and 25-8 scores; before West Georgia bounced back in the third with a 25-18 win. And, Shorter secured the victory with a 25-11 win in the fourth frame.
Three players finished in double-figures in kills for Shorter with
Elizabeth Dowd leading the effort with 14; while
Madeline Munroe added 12 and
Tiffani Estep chipped in with 11. At the service line,
Cheyenne Frady and
Kelsi Jones each tallied three aces, to lead the team. All in all, the Lady Hawks posted 9 aces for the night. Frady added 28 assists in the match, and
Alli Bell delivered 11.
On the receiving end,
Cheyenne McLemore turned in a game high 20 digs and was joined in double-figures by Dowd (14) and Frady (13). At the net, the Lady Hawks turned in nine total blocks with Dowd and Estep having a hand in four each. Jones added three and
Alicia McClellan finished with two.
Shorter will look to finish the road portion of the their schedule on a high note when they travel to West Alabama Friday evening, November 4, for a 7:00pm start.
