Hartsville, S.C. -- The Hawks opened the day at the Coker Duals falling to Belmont-Abbey College 33-16.
The Crusaders jumped out to an early lead, winning the first five matchups to take a 27-0 lead.
Kade Kitchens put Shorter on the board in the 165 fight, with a 13-6 decision over Joseph Coss to bring the score to 27-3.
Wally Figaro made it 27-9 when he pinned Tyler Maclain in 1:43, at 174. The Hawks then dropped the 184 bout, to bring the score to 33-9.
Shorter closed out the match winning the final two weight classes, for the 33-16 final score.
Dalton Lane topped Dane Mitchell 12-2 to score a major decision at 197. And,
Christian Flavin defeated Chass Delgado 6-3 at 285.
The Hawks will take on Limestone in the second match of the day.
