Lady Hawks open 2015 at Anderson

Thursday Lady Hawks Soccer will officially kick off the 2015-16 athletic year when they take to the field for the first time at Anderson University in Anderson, South Carolina. Coming off the best season in program history, Shorter will look to keep the momentum going in hopes of continuing to build on that success.

In 2014, the Lady Hawks posted a program best 14-9 record, earned a trip to the Gulf South Conference quarterfinals, and capped off its final year in the National Christian College Athletic Association with a South Region Championship and a berth in the national tournament.

Bolstered by a wealth of young talent, Shorter is eager to get things going and will do so at 4:00pm Thursday on the road, before returning to Ben Brady Field Saturday at 2:00pm when Mars Hill visits Rome.

Anderson enters 2015 looking to improve on a 7-10-1 record from a year ago, under the direction of second year head coach and Shorter graduate, Ciaran Traquair. The Trojans return eight starters from last season including the South Atlantic Conference's Freshman of the Year, Lyssa Engle, and senior defender Faith Johannes. Both enter the year as preseason All-SAC picks.

Mars Hill will come to Rome looking to turn things around in the 2015 after going 0-16-1 last season. A year ago, the Lady Hawks opened the season on the road against the Mountain Lions turning in a 2-1 win on a pair of goals from Corrie Thomas.
