Softball to host GACA All-Star Game

For the sixth straight year Alto Park Softball Complex will be the host for the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association's (GACA) Softball All-Star festivities when the teams, representing the North and the South, take to the field on Wednesday, June 10, for an 11:00am doubleheader.

The teams, comprised of the best high school players from the state of Georgia from all classifications, will also showcase some of the best talent in the country as all have already signed to play at the collegiate level in the fall for notable programs including Shorter and North Georgia at the NCAA Division II level. While others will look to make an impact on the Division I stage next year for the likes of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Tennessee, and Ole Miss. Selections for the All-Star teams were made as past of the GACA All-State process, and were made in December at the annual All-State/All-Star Selection meeting.

As in past years, the games will pit future teammates against each other. Maddie Hunt of Greenbriar and Tiffany Holland of Gordon Lee – who've each signed on to wear the Blue and White for Shorter next season – will represent opposite teams in Wednesday's showcase. Also, squaring off against each other will be future UNG Nighthawks, Brianna Michaud of Lassiter and Brittani Crawford of Union Grove. While, current teammates at Thomas County Central, Erika Greek and Emily Corbitt, will each take the field for the South Team on Wednesday and then for Pensacola State next year.

Heading up the coaching duties are Pope's Chris Turco and Greenbriar's Garrett Black, serving as head coaches for the North and South, respectively. Assisting Turco will be Ashley Ford of Walton and Jennifer Miller of Pope. While, Walnut Grove's Taylor Brooks and Thomas County Central's Robyn Trammell will serve as assistants for Black.
